Author: talib84
Subject: Islamic scholars and apostasy law
Posted: 04 February 2012 at 2:09am

Damo, I don't understand your argument.

There are only two possible answers (as far as I know) when concerning apostasy:

1) This only applies to those who left Islam and opposed the religion (like giving up citizenship to your country and turning against it).

2) You openly declare that you no longer believe in Islam and don't want to be a Muslim anymore, in which case (according to the government practicing it today) the person is given a few days to realize the consequences and given a chance to recant.

Most Muslims I know take option 1 to be the true understanding of this hadith.

As for option 2, I don't know what you want me to say about it. The way I asked Joe Blow, Are you trying to convert me to that opinion?

Either way, talking about spiritual enslavement, it was you yourself who admitted to me in another thread that because I rejected Catholicism, I'm, in not so many words, damned to eternal torment.

This is psychological manipulation used by the church to keep their followers in line. Why else do you think the little boy drops his pants when Father McKenzie tells him to?

If you want to talk about spiritual enslavement, talk to those little boys who kept their scars hidden from the world for so many years.

And even if you want to say that they're "exceptions", fine, believe what you want. But the simple fact that Catholics are taught from a young age about Jesus (as) and how he loves everyone, but then give him this sinister image when talking about sinners who won't accept God.

So, please stop making labels for Islam when in reality you, JoeBlow, Francophile, or anyone else cannot offer proof that this is truly from Prophet Mohammad (saws) other than that some country follows it or that some scholars believe it or some other rubbish that has no significant weight.

Either way, if it was up to me, I'd extend the list of crimes that call for execution. Even so, I don't see any evidence for executing such people in the Quran or Hadiths beyond the one and only example I've seen on this site so far.
