bullet Topic: Joining the US Army?
    Posted: 05 August 2007 at 3:18am
I know a brother who is having a hard time. He is very adherent to the deen, but he is having marital issues. He has no money, and he is contemplating joining the Army. However, the crux of the matter is that he afraid of fighting against his Muslim brothers and sisters, and having to do immoral things.

This dunya isnt worth the loss of the next, but he is still tentative.
What can be said to comfort him? Any fatwas in this area?

Everybody's on this list, Shk Yusuf Qaradawi, Dr. Taha Jaber Al-`Alwani, Sheikh Muhammad `Ali Al-Hanooti, Sheikh Faysal Mawlawi....enjoy and please share it with your friend.

Hi Naadir: There are 7000 Muslims serving honorably, with integrity and courage, in the US Armed Forces -- the Army has 5 Muslim Chaplains and the Navy has 2!

American Muslims are some of the best Muslims in the world. They work in all facets of industry, government and the military. This is how Muslims can affect positive change toward their community and the rest of the world, considering that the US is the ONLY superpower in the world.

Tell your friend that I would rather have him in Afghanistan than someone who has no idea what religious "extremism" means! Besides, as a Muslim Soldier in the US Army, he can be a Living Example of Pluralism both within Islam and the United States of America!

I wish your friend well!

I split the thread since some of the posts were more editorial in nature. This forum is for asking questions, not debates, which is why I split the thread. The link to the new thread is below. Let's keep this thread for questions and answers only and not debate and discussion. Thanks!

Joining killers of Muslims for money, how would one face ALLAh in the Aqhirah ?

Our Prophet SaLLaLLahuAlaihiwassaLLam embraced poverty.

"Joining killers of Muslims for money, how would one face ALLAh in the Aqhirah ?"

Given the Muslim on Muslim murder in Iraq right now, your comment is absurd.

The intent of the US military in Iraq right now is not to be "killers of Muslims", its to be a source of stability so we can get the hell out.

You want to stop the killer of Muslims try talking to al Queda in Iraq who murder Iraqi Muslims on a daily basis or try talking to the Iranians who once again today fired artillery at Iraqi Kurds.  Try yanking your head out of your okole for once and see who the true killers of Muslims are.

Salam Alikum

In the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Ever-Merciful. Peace and blessings of Allah be upon Prophet Muhammad (SAWS).

This is not Fatwa but what many Imam answer:

Allah Say in Quran (Anyone who reverences GOD, He will create an exit for him.[3]   And will provide for him whence he never expected. Anyone who trusts in GOD, He suffices him. GOD's commands are done. GOD has decreed for everything its fate.) (65 Divorce AL Talaaq)
