The Opener (First Chapter of The Quran)

Sura Al-Fatiha

“The Opening”

Sura Al-Fatiha (“The Opening”) is the first chapter of the Quran. Its verses are a prayer for God’s guidance and stress the Lordship and Mercy of God (Allah in Arabic). This chapter has a special role in daily prayers (Salat), being recited at the start of each unit of prayer, or rak’ah.

English translation of Surah Al-Fatiha.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:

All Praise is due to Allah, Lord of the Universe

The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Owner of the Day of Judgement.

You alone do we worship, and You alone we turn to for help

Guide us to the straight path;

The path of those on whom You have bestowed your grace, not (the way) of those who have earned Your anger, nor of those who went astray.

  3. Do islamic people all over the world really understand what is it on their book written? Or they were just corrupted by a fake prophet named Muhammad who drinks wine in heaven (which really translated in hell), a wine created by Satan. If that so, islamic doctrines hijacked the poor innocent souls of the people and teaches destruction and deception against anyone who opposes these political 'religious' sect who is being enforced by force under the mask of sharia law which is an anti-humanitarian teaching.

  6. Ella, the Quran gives guidance … the sin belongs to mankind and those who do not follow God and the way of peace. Greed and power are man-made and for this reason there is no peace. Man was created with free will. It is at the end of this mortal life, on Judegement Day, that God decides the price for a man's sins. There is only one God and he sees, hears, knows all.

  7. "Allah is but Kindness" – one English translation I read from a book at my local library of the first line of the first Surah of the Koran. I am trying to educate myself here. This and other translations on the internet say "Allah, the most Gracious, the Most Merciful". – What is the more correct translation from the original Arabic Most "Merciful" or Most "Kind" ? I am asking as Kind has wider reaching implications in English than "Merciful". Thank you for for help
