Dr. Kia Jahed is a Musculoskeletal and Interventional Radiologist, having completed his medical training at the University of Louisville and Emory University. He has studied Arabic and traditional Islamic studies in Egypt and Syria, and comparative religious studies in Turkey. He is an active khateeb (Friday Sermon & Prayer Leader), lecturer and educator in the broader DC metro community.
Author, comparative-religionist and philosopher of religion
Mohammed Hijab is an author, comparative-religionist and philosopher of religion. He is the co-founder of Sapience Institute and is a researcher and instructor for the organisation. He has a BA in Politics and master’s degree in History. He has also acquired a second master’s in Islamic Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies. Hijab has also completed a third master’s degree in Applied Theology from the University of Oxford where he focussed on the Philosophy of Religion in applied settings. Hijab is now doing his PhD in the Philosophy of Religion on the Contingency Argument for God’s existence.
In addition, Hijab has undergone formal training in Islamic studies, with a focus on the Qur’an, Prophetic traditions, and legal reasoning. Hijab has completed Islamic seminary courses and been given formal permission to relay Islamic knowledge on selected Islamic fields. Hijab is one of the very few Muslim public figures who deal comparatively with political, philosophical and theological issues and as such has amassed a following of many subscribers on YouTube in English and Arabic.
Dr. Suzy Ismail
Visiting Professor at DeVry University, NJ
Dr. Suzy Ismail is currently a Visiting Professor at DeVry University in North Brunswick, New Jersey and at DeVry University Online. She is also the curriculum developer and lead instructor at “Center for Muslim Life”, a nonprofit social platform that focuses on strengthening marriage, family, and community life. She received her Bachelor’s in English, Communication and Middle Eastern Studies, her Master’s in Communication and Information Studies, and attended the School of Communication at Rutgers University as a doctoral student in the field of Intercultural Organizational Communication.
She specializes in presenting a range of communication seminars and workshops at major corporations, conferences and events that address issues such as marriage, divorce, unity, youth and women empowerment, and cultural and religious diversity in the workplace. Since 1999, she has been teaching, speaking and writing professionally on a national and international level.
Suzy is the Vice President of her children’s school Board of Directors and serves on several other non-profit boards and commissions as well.

Wendy Díaz is a Puerto Rican Muslim writer, poet, translator, and children’s book author. She is the Spanish content coordinator for WhyIslam.org and a Columnist for MuslimMatters.org. She is also the co-founder of Hablamos Islam, a non-profit organization that produces educational resources about Islam in the Spanish language.
Daniel was born and raised in Reading, PA and converted to Islam in February of 2017. Since then, Daniel enjoys teaching Sunday School at his local mosque and being involved with several Islamic organizations: including ICNA, WhyIslam, MuslimServe, and Embrace. Daniel serves as the assistant lead for the Embrace Philadelphia chapter. He hopes his efforts in the Embrace Project will help find the support, care, and love that is needed for converts to further appreciate their Islam and integrate them into their respective communities.
