Quran Quotes

  • It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces towards East or West; but it is righteousness to believe in Allah and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the Book, and the Messengers; to spend of your substance, out of love for Him, for your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask, and for the ransom of slaves; to be steadfast in prayer, and give Zakat, (obligatory annual charity), to fulfill the contracts which ye have made; and to be firm and patient, in pain and adversity, and throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people of truth, the God-fearing.
  • Allah! There is no god but He, the Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede in His presence except as He permitteth? He knoweth what (appeareth to His creatures as) before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except as He willeth. His Throne doth extend over the heavens and the earth, and He feeleth no fatigue in guarding and preserving them for He is the Most High, the Supreme (in glory).
  • Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in God hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And God heareth and knoweth all things.
  • O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you,that ye may (learn) self-restraint...Ramadan is the (month) in which was sent down the Qur'an, as a guide to mankind, also clear (Signs) for guidance and judgment (between right and wrong). So every one of you who is present (at his home) during that month should spend it in fasting...
  • Say (to the people O Muhammad): 'If you love Allah then follow me, Allah will (then) love you and forgive you of your sins.And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
  • Say, we believe in God and that which was revealed unto us,and that which was revealed unto Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob, and the tribes and that which was entrusted unto Moses and Jesus and the Prophets from their Lord We make no distinction between any of them and unto Him we have submitted.
  • Those who suppress their anger, and forgive other people assuredly, God loves those who do good.

  • Say:Short is the enjoyment of this world.The Hereafter is (far) better for him who fears God
  • Do they not ponder about the Quran? Had it been from any other than Allah, they would surely have found in it much inconsistency.
  • O you who believe! Believe in Allah and His Messenger and the Book He has revealed to His Messenger and the Book He revealed before. And whoever disbelieves in Allah, in His angels, in His Books, in His Messengers and in the Last Day, has indeed strayed far away.
  • O Mankind! The Messenger hath come to you in truth from Allah. believe in him: It is best for you. But if ye reject Faith, to Allah belong all things in the heavens and on earth: And Allah is All-knowing, All-wise.
  • Verily, those who disbelieve in God and His Messengers and wish to make distinction between God and His Messengers (by believing in God and disbelieving in His Messengers) saying,We believe in some but reject others,and wish to adopt a way in between.They are in truth disbelievers.And We have prepared for the disbelievers a humiliating torment.And those who believe in God and His Messengers and make no distinction between any of them, We shall give them their rewards, and God is Ever Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
  • if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people.
  • ...And nearest among them in love to the believers wilt thou find those who say: 'We are Christians': because among these are men devoted to learning and men who have renounced the world. And they are not arrogant.
  • The Word of your Lord is perfect in truthfulness and justice; no one can change His words. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

  • And treat your parents with kindness.If one or both of them attain old age in your care, never say to them a word (suggesting) disgust, nor reproach them, but address them with reverent speech.And humble yourself out of mercy before them, and pray:My Lord!Be merciful to them for having cared for me in my childhood.(Quran 17:23-4)
  • We shall set up scales of justice for the day of Judgment, so that not a soul will be dealt with unjustly in the least. And if there be (no more than) the weight of a mustard seed,We will bring it (to account): And enough are We to take account.
  • Have they taken earthly gods who are such that they raise up the dead to life? Had there been any Gods in the heavens and the earth apart from Allah, the order of both the heavens and the earth would have gone to ruins. Glory be to Allah, the Lord of the Throne, Who is far above their false descriptions of Him.
  • They say: "The Most Compassionate Lord has taken to Himself a son.Glory be to Him! Those whom they so designate are onlt His honored servants. They do not outstrip Him in speech and only act as He commands
  • Did the unbelievers not realize that the heavens and the earth were one solid mass, then We tore them apart, and We made every living being out of water. Will they, then, not believe? And We placed firm mountains on earth lest it should sway with them, and We made wide paths in them that they may find their way; and We made the sky a secure canopy; and yet they turn away from these signs.
  • "O Mankind! if ye have a doubt about the Resurrection, (consider) that We created you out of dust, then out of sperm, then out of a leech-like clot, then out of a morsel of flesh, partly formed and partly unformed, in order that We may manifest (our power) to you; and We cause whom We will to rest in the wombs for an appointed term, then do We bring you out as babes, then (foster you) that ye may reach your age of full strength; and some of you are called to die, and some are sent back to the feeblest old age, so that they know nothing after having known (much), and (further), thou seest the earth barren and lifeless, but when We pour down rain on it, it is stirred (to life), it swells, and it puts forth every kind of beautiful growth (in pairs).
  • Successful indeed are the Believers, those who humble themselves in their prayers.
  • We created man out of the extract of clay, then We made Him into a drop of lifegerm, then We placed it in a safe depository, then We made this drop into a clot, then We made the clot into a lump, then We made the lump into bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh, and then We caused it to grow into another creation. Thus Most Blessed is Allah, the Best of all those that create.
  • God is the light of the heavens and the earth. His Light (in the Universe) may be likened to a niche wherein is a lamp., and the lamp is in the crystal which shines in star-like brilliance. It is lit from (the oil) of a blessed olive tree that is neither of the East nor of the West. Its oil well night glows forth (of itself) though no fire touched it. Light upon Light. Allah guides to His light whom He wills. Allah sets forth parables to make people understand and Allah knows everything.
  • Who is it that has created the heavens and the earth and has sent down for you water from the sky and then We caused to grow therewith orchards full of beauty who trees you could never grow. Is there any god associated with Allah (in these tasks)? Nay, there are a people who are veering away from the Right Path.
  • And among His signs is that He created for you mates from among yourselves that you may dwell with them in serenity and tranquility.And He has put love and compassion between your hearts.Truly in that are signs for those who reflect.
  • We enjoined upon man to be dutiful to his parents. His mother bore him in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning lasted two years. (We therefore enjoined upon him):Give thanks to Me and to your parents. To Me is your ultimate return.
  • O people, fear (the wrath) of your Lord, and dread the Day when no father will stand for his child, nor any child stand for his father. Surely, Allah's promise is true. So let not the life of this world beguile you, nor let the deluder delude you about Allah
  • And We have not sent you (O Muhammad) except as a bearer of glad tidings and a Warner to all mankind, but most of people know not.(Quran 34:28)
  • Those who disbelieve say: The Hour will never come unto us. Say: Nay, by my Lord, it is coming unto you surely. (He is) the knower of the unseen. Not an atom's weight, or less than that or greater, escapes Him in the heavens or in the earth, but it is in a clear Record.That He may reward those who believe and do good works.For them are pardon and a rich provision. But those who strive against our revelations, challenging (Us), theirs will be a painful doom of wrath.
  • This is the Blessed Book that We have revealed unto you, (O Muhammad), that people with understanding may reflect over its verses and those with understanding derive a lesson
  • He created the heavens and the earth with Truth, and He folds up the day over the night and folds up the night over the day. He has subjected the sun and the moon, each is running its course until an appointed time. Lo, He is the most Mighty, the most Forgiving.
  • (O Prophet), then warn them of the Day that has drawn near, the Day when hearts full of suppressed grief will leap up to the throats and the wrong-doers will neither have any sincere friend nor intercessor whose words will be heeded. He knows even the most stealthy glance of the eyes and all the secrets that hearts conceal. Allah will judge with justice, whereas those whom they call upon beside Him, cannot judge at all. Surely Allah - and He alone - is All-Hearing, All-Seeing.
  • (Allah is) the Creator of the heavens and the earth: He has made for you pairs from among yourselves and pairs among cattle: by this means does He multiply you: there is nothing whatever like unto Him and He is the One that hears and sees (all things). To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth: He enlarges and restricts the Sustenance to whom He will: for He knows full well all things.
  • They say,There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and nothing but time destroys us.Of that they have no knowledge; they merely conjecture.And when Our revelations are recited to them, their only argument is that they say,Bring us our father, if you speak truly.
  • And those who desire Guidance, He (God) will increase them in Guidance, and inspire them with [the way to] piety.
  • O mankind we created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other. Verily the most honored of you in the sight of god is (he who is) the most righteous of you and god has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).
  • We will show them our proofs in the horizons, and within themselves, until they realize that this is the truth. Is your Lord not sufficient as a witness of all things?
  • Surely We have made this Quran easy as a reminder. Is there, then, any who will take heed?
  • There is no moving creature on earth but its sustenance dependeth on Allah: He knoweth the time and place of its definite abode and its temporary deposit: All is in a clear Record.
  • He is Allah besides Whom there is no other god, knowing the unseen and the visible. He is the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful! He is Allah, besides Whom there is no other god, the Sovereign, the Holy, (the Source of) Peace, the Secure, the Preserver, the Powerful, the Irresistible, the Grandiose. Glory be to Allah ahead of anything they may associate (with Him)! He is Allah, the Creator, the Evolver, the Shaper. His are the Finest C61Names. Everything in Heaven and Earth celebrates Him. He is the Powerful, the Wise.
  • O man! What has seduced thee from thy Lord Most Beneficent? Him Who created thee. Fashioned thee in due proportion, and gave thee a just bias; In whatever Form He wills, does He put thee together. Nay! but ye do reject Right and Judgment!
  • He inspired it (the soul) to know its sin and its piety.
  • Say: He is Allah, the One; Allah, the Eternal, Absolute; He begetteth not, nor is He begotten, and there is none like unto Him

Prophetic Wisdom

  • God is more loving and kinder than a mother to her dear child
  • Receiving your friend with a smile is a type of charity and putting some water in your neighbors bucket is a charity
  • On the Day of Resurrection, nothing will be heavier in the scale (of good deeds) of the believer than good conduct. God hates the one who swears and hurls obscenities.(Abu Dawud, Al-Tirmidhi)
  • The believers with the most perfect faith are those with the most perfect conduct and manners. And the best ones amongst you are those who are best to their families.(Al-Tirmidhi)
  • None of you truly believes until he loves for his (believing) brother what he loves for himself.(Saheeh Al-Bukhari, Saheeh Muslim)
  • God has no mercy on one who has no mercy for others.
  • None of you truly believes until he wishes for his brother what he wishes for himself.
  • He who eats his fill while his neighbor goes without food is not a believer.
  • The truthful and trusty businessman is associated with the prophets the saints, and the martyrs
  • Powerful is not he who knocks the other down, indeed powerful is he who controls himself in a fit of anger.
  • God does not judge according to your bodies and appearances but He scans your hearts and looks into your deeds.
  • A man walking along a path felt very thirsty. Reaching a well he descended into it, drank his fill and came up. Then he saw a dog with its tongue hanging out, trying to lick up mud to quench its thirst. The man saw that the dog was feeling the same thirst as he had felt so he went down into the well again and filled his shoe with water and gave the dog a drink. God forgave his sins for this action.' The Prophet was asked: 'Messenger of God, are we rewarded for kindness towards animals?' He said, 'There is a reward for kindness to every living thing.
  • The most perfect of believers in belief is the best of them in character. The best of you are those who are the best to their women
  • Among the things that people have found from the words of the previous prophets was:If you feel no shame, then do as you wish."
  • On every person's joints or small bones (i.e. fingers and toes), there is charity every day the sun rises. Doing justice between two people is charity; assisting a man to mount his animal, or lifting up his belongings onto it is charity; a good word is charity; every step you take towards prayer is charity; and removing harmful things from pathways is charity."
  • The Prophet (pbuh) said "Be in this world as though you were a stranger or a traveler/wayfarer."
    Ibn 'Umar used to say:
    "When evening comes, do not expect (to live till) morning, and when morning comes, do not expect (to live till) evening. Take from your health (a preparation) for your illness, and from your life for your death
  • Allah the Almighty has said: 'O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me, and hope in Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds in the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I shall forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with an earthful of sins and were you then to face Me, without having associated anything with Me, I shall grant you an earthful of pardon
  • Let whosoever believes in Allah and in the Last Day either speak good or be silent. Let whosoever believes in Allah and in the Last Day honor his neighbor. Let whosoever believes in Allah and in the Last Day honor his guest.
